The Problem
In Ghana, less than 5% of high school students have exposure to foundational AI education.
Over 70% of public secondary schools lack infrastructure, trained educators, or resources for STEM beyond basic ICT.
Without intervention, Ghana's youth risk systemic exclusion from global AI innovation and job markets.

Why it Matters?
The story of Empowering Minds Foundation began centuries ago. My maternal ancestors settled in Lartei, near Nsawam, Ghana, after the Akwamu war of 1732. In the 1950s, my grandfather, Charles Lartei Aryeetey, would leave our family more than 300 acres of land and a charge: to help develop the village and secure its future.My parents traveled to the United States in the 1960s and 70s. Though I grew up in New York and Massachusetts in the 1990s, that responsibility has always been with me. Over 25 years working in education, I have seen how opportunity—and the lack of it—can shape an entire life’s trajectory. Like many immigrant families blessed by America’s opportunities, I received a world-class education and a broader view of what is possible. Bowdoin College, my alma mater, reinforced this vision through its commitment to the common good—a principle that continues to shape my work today.In underdeveloped areas like Nsawam and Ga West, poverty is high, resources are scarce, and talented young people lack the tools to thrive in a rapidly changing world. But the potential is extraordinary. Today that journey of transforming lives has expanded to the Empowering Minds Foundation (EMF) and haressing artificial intelligence as a tool to unlock opportunities in communities that have been overlooked.Our mission is an initiative to build a school and an AI innovation center where students can access world-class learning, cutting-edge technology, and mentorship that unlocks their future. Artificial intelligence is transforming every industry—yet too many communities remain excluded from its promise. By bringing AI-driven education and innovation to Ghana’s underserved regions, we are not only lifting local children out of poverty but also cultivating voices and solutions the world urgently needs.When we empower a child in Ghana to learn, innovate, and dream, we all benefit from their future contributions to our shared world. The work we do here in the United States can literally change lives there—creating opportunities that ripple across families, communities, and generations. This is not just charity—it’s partnership and progress. We will empower the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and creators.Join us. Identify 500+ talented youth annually through merit-based outreach and equity-centered criteria.

Deliver AI-focused training, coding boot camps, and foundational computer science via in-person and digital hybrid models.
Empowerment
Mentorship, leadership development, and small grant seed capital to launch AI-driven solutions.
